IBPS RRB Officers Scale I, II & III Eligibility Criteria


The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the Online Common Recruitment Process for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). To be eligible for IBPS CRP Officer vacancies, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  1. Nationality: A candidate must be either:

    • A Citizen of India, or
    • A subject of Nepal, or
    • A subject of Bhutan, or
    • A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 to permanently settle in India, or
    • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to permanently settle in India. Candidates in categories (ii), (iii), (iv), & (v) must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
  2. Age Limit (As on 01-06-2024):

    • Officer Scale-III: 21-40 years (Born between 03-06-1984 and 31-05-2003)
    • Officer Scale-II: 21-32 years (Born between 03-06-1992 and 31-05-2003)
    • Officer Scale-I: 18-30 years (Born between 03-06-1994 and 31-05-2006)
    • Office Assistant (Multipurpose): 18-28 years (Born between 02-06-1996 and 01-06-2006)
  3. Age Relaxation:

    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • PWD: 10 years
    • Ex-servicemen commissioned officers (including ECOs/SSCOs) with at least 5 years of military service and released other than by way of dismissal or discharge: 5 years
    • Persons affected by the 1984 riots: 5 years
  4. Educational Qualification:

    • Officer Scale I: Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent. Proficiency in local language and computer knowledge or awareness is preferred. Preference is given to candidates with degrees in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, or Accountancy.

    • Officer Scale-II (General Banking Officer): Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Preference for candidates with degrees in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, and Accountancy. Experience: Two years as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.

    • Officer Scale-II (Specialist Officer):

      • Information Technology Officer: Degree in Electronics/Communication/Computer Science/Information Technology or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Desirable: Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP etc. Experience: One year.
      • Chartered Accountant: Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Experience: One year.
      • Law Officer: Degree in Law or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Experience: Two years as an advocate or as a Law Officer in Banks/Financial Institutions.
      • Treasury Manager: Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or MBA in Finance from a recognized university/institution. Experience: One year.
      • Marketing Officer: MBA in Marketing from a recognized university. Experience: One year.
      • Agricultural Officer: Degree in Agriculture/Horticulture/Dairy/Animal Husbandry/Forestry/Veterinary Science/Agricultural Engineering/Pisciculture from a recognized university or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Experience: Two years.
    • Officer Scale III: Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Preference for candidates with degrees/diplomas in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, and Accountancy. Experience: Minimum 5 years experience as an Officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.

Note: All educational qualifications should be from a recognized university/board.

Language Proficiency: Candidates applying for Officer Scale I and Office Assistants (Multipurpose) must have proficiency in the local language of the State/UT where the RRB is situated to be eligible for the interview. This condition does not apply to Officer Scale II and III posts.


IBPS RRB Office Assistant Eligibility Criteria

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) will be conducting the Online Common Recruitment Process (CRP) for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). To be eligible for the IBPS CWE Office Assistant vacancies, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Nationality: A candidate must be either:

    • A Citizen of India, or
    • A subject of Nepal, or
    • A subject of Bhutan, or
    • A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 to permanently settle in India, or

    • PWD: 10 years
    • Ex-Servicemen/Disabled Ex-Servicemen (ESM/DESM): Actual period of service rendered in the defense forces plus 3 years (8 years for Disabled Ex-Servicemen belonging to SC/ST) subject to a maximum age limit of 50 years
    • Widows, Divorced Women, and Women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried: Age concession up to 35 years for General/EWS, up to 38 years for OBC, and up to 40 years for SC/ST candidates
  4. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent and proficiency in the local language.

  5. Language Proficiency: Candidates applying for Officer Scale I and Office Assistant (Multipurpose) positions in any particular RRB or RRBs must have proficiency in the local language of the State/UT where the RRB is situated to be eligible for the interview, as per the notification of the concerned RRB. This condition does not apply to Officer Scale II and III posts.

Important Notes:

  1. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
  2. Cutoff marks will be decided based on the average.
  3. CRP scores will be available on the IBPS website.
  4. Scorecards will be valid for one year from the date of issue.
  5. The CRP will be conducted at various centers as mentioned in the notification.
  6. Pre-examination training will be provided for a limited number of candidates who apply online.

Common Interview:

Candidates who qualify in the Online Examination will be called for a Common Interview conducted by the Nodal Regional Rural Bank in each State/UT, coordinated by IBPS. The interview carries a total of 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying mark of 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates). The final score will be based on the Online Main Examination score for Officer Scale I and the Single Level Examination score for Officer Scale II and III, combined with the interview score. Candidates must qualify in both the Online Examination and the Common Interview to be considered for provisional allotment.
